"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen."
God's will is salvation (eternal life). It is God’s grace that He gives us salvation and we can have it through faith based on the redemption of Jesus Christ. In fellowship with God, one can find his true self, true happiness, and true peace.
What is salvation?
Salvation is a gift of God through faith. We can have this gift by putting our faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, which renews our lives, frees us from the state of sin and hell, and makes us fit for heaven.
"For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him." (1. Thessalonians 5: 9,10)
Christian thoughts
"A saved soul has many sorrows. They have their share of bereavements, deaths, disappointments, crosses. What shall enable a believer to bear all this? Nothing but the consolation there is in Christ." (John C. Ryle)
"In the Christian understanding, Jesus does not tell us how to live so we can merit salvation. Rather, he comes to forgive and save us through his life and death in our place. God’s grace does not come to people who morally outperform others, but to those who admit their failure to perform and who acknowledge their need for a Savior." (Timothy Keller)
"The way to be saved is to come to Christ. Christ is a person, a living person, full of power to save. He has not placed his salvation in sacraments, or books, or priests, but he has kept it in himself; and if you want to have it you must come to him. He is still the one source and fountain of eternal mercy. There is no getting it by going round about him, or only going near to him: you must come to him, actually to him, and there must be a personal contact established between the Lord Jesus and your spirit. Of course it cannot be a natural contact, for his body is in the heavens and we are here; but it must be a spiritual contact, by which your mind, heart, thought, shall come to Christ, and faith, like a hand, shall touch him spiritually, grasp him by believing upon him, and receive life and grace from his divine power." (Charles H. Spurgeon)
Counsel of Jesus Christ
Admit that you are of a sinful nature, who is evil, miserable, wretched, blind and naked, and therefore receive the counsel of Jesus Christ: Pray to Him, ask Him to deliver you from your sinful nature! Ask Him to save you, and give you eternal life. If you ask Him in prayer, you can have salvation, you can find true happiness and peace, and with His help you will be able to become a good person (your true self) and you will be able to live a life pleasing your Creator already in this world. The counsel of Jesus Christ is this:
"I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne." (Revelation 3: 18-21)
